Insomniacs, listen up: The key to perfect sleep is restricting the amount of time you spend in your bed. Lounging in your bed attempting to snooze could lead your body down a path of associating the bedroom with a restless night.

The Trick: Instead of spending more time in bed each night hoping to get better sleep, set a consistent early wake-up time and don’t go to bed until six hours before it each night. Many experts say that this short-term sleep restriction method promotes a more restful night’s sleep for those struggling with insomnia symptoms.

The Bottom Line: While getting six hours of sleep seems like it wouldn’t necessarily help you sleep better, you’ll successfully train your brain to go to sleep when you need it, launching you out of that terrible cycle of insomnia. Sleep FTW! [Swirled]
