The Team

Team Pic
  • Lauren Stanich

    President, CEO

Lauren is a media veteran first working in consumer marketing and then moving to general management in the women’s lifestyle space for Time Inc, Martha Stewart Omnimedia, Meredith and Everyday Health.  Working closely with entrepreneurs in these roles helped develop her interest in startups; Swirled is her second. When she is not in the office, hanging out with her family, she is often gardening, traveling or entertaining at her home in Westchester.

  • Anne Balaban

    Chief Revenue Officer

Anne is at her best when she is solving a problem, finding a solution or adding value. She has worked across traditional, digital, native and social media, on iconic brands such as Martha Stewart, Rachel Ray, Dr. Oz, as well as with up and coming influencers, to develop highly successful sales and marketing programs. When she is not in the office, she is spending time in Brooklyn with her husband and two sons (listening non-stop to Johnny Cash), sweating it out at the gym or trying to teach good manners to her stubborn coonhound pup.

  • Elyse Siegel

    Managing Editor

Elyse is Swirled’s managing editor. Her core expertise is growing an engaged audience around meaningful content. With an innovative approach to content creation and promotion, as well as data and emerging platforms, she excels at reaching a target demographic with messages that resonate. Elyse is also focused on product development from an internal and user-facing perspective. She is passionate about how the internet is reshaping the way people consume content and evolving technology to align with user behavior patterns. Elyse has previously worked at The Huffington Post, CBS News, RebelMouse, SomeSpider and Littlstar. When she’s not working, she’s hanging out with friends, exercising, exploring new parts of NYC and wishing she had a puppy.

  • Alena Hall

    Deputy Editor

Alena is Swirled’s deputy editor. She has spent the past five years working as a wellness writer and editor in New York, NY. She also recently completed her 200-hour intensive yoga teacher training. When she’s not in the office or practicing yoga, she’s either wandering through the city’s beautiful parks, experimenting in her kitchen with new recipes, or cuddling up with her cat Fitzgerald, a cup of hot tea and a good book.

  • Sami Allen

    Senior Editor

Sami Allen is Swirled’s senior editor. She’s currently in charge of Swirled’s daily newsletter and previously helped launch the website’s Thrive section. She covered career and budgeting content with a larger focus on life hacks and everything you need to know to “adult” successfully. For the last three years, she has been in the digital media sphere getting her hands in everything from writing to social media to building newsletters. When she’s not in the office, she’s reviewing restaurants and taking creative writing classes at Gotham Writers.

  • Hilarey Wojtowicz

    Senior Career and Finance Editor

Career enthusiast and financial feminist are just two ways Hilarey Wojtowicz describes herself. As the senior career and finance editor for Swirled, overseeing the Thrive vertical, Hilarey’s goal, both in the office and out, is to empower women in their careers and personal finances at all times. Hilarey is on the board of New York Women in Communications, teaches social media analytics at her alma mater, The College of New Jersey, is a master budgeter who bought her first home at 25, and still goes to the beach and punk rock concerts as often as she can. Her prior career experience consists of positions at Meredith Xcelerated Marketing, The Cashlorette, a Bankrate.com website, Doorsteps by realtor.com, and more. She has a masters in journalism from the University of Missouri, and currently lives in New Jersey. Follow her on Twitter @HilareyAnn.

  • Emily Abrams

    Food Editor

Emily is Swirled’s food editor. She has worked in all areas of the food media industry, from being the chef casting recruiter for the Food Network’s “Chopped” to writing for the James Beard Foundation. When Emily isn’t at culinary school or writing about all of the indulgent foods and destination-worthy restaurants out there, she’s either cooking, eating her way around Brooklyn, planning her next trip or experimenting with all of the hoppy beers.

  • Libby Ryan

    Travel Editor

Libby is Swirled’s travel editor. Her favorite things include long hikes with great views, ferry rides and quirky Parisian cafes. She’s a proud Minnesotan navigating Manhattan – and heads out on the road to explore the world whenever possible. Previously, she’s written for Forbes Travel Guide, Psychology Today, Parents․com and the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

  • Leah Gay

    Social Media Editor

Leah Gay is Swirled’s social media editor. After graduating from Virginia Tech, she headed north to the Big Apple and has been working in New York’s social media scene for four years. When she’s not in the office, she’s trying out the latest Classpass studios, eating her way through every açai bowl in NYC or binging Friends for the 100th time.
