The World’s Most Expensive Milkshake Looks Like A McDonald’s Shake Covered With Crystals

New York City’s iconic Serendipity 3 is known for its frozen hot chocolate and Mad Hatter tea party meets antique shop meets stained-glass chandelier wonderland vibe. And now, it also holds the Guinness World Record for the most expensive milkshake in the world, which comes in at a steep $100.

The lavish milkshake is served in a custom-made glass, which is covered with more than 3,000 Swarovski crystals. Inside the snazzy glass, the shake itself looks deceivingly simple (almost plain), but the ingredients are far from it.

The creamy concoction is made with Jersey Cream (which is made from cows bred on the Channel Islands and has a high butterfat content), Tahitian vanilla ice cream, Devonshire luxury clotted cream, Madagascar vanilla beans, 23-carat edible gold, Jersey grass-fed vanilla whipped cream, a rare donkey milk caramel sauce called Le Cremose Baldizzone (which is made with Piedmont hazelnuts and Venezuelan cocoa) and Luxardo maraschino cherries. The entire milkshake was crafted by Serendipity 3’s chef Joe Calderone.

With a price tag of $100, you better savor every last slurp. But the real question is: Who loves dairy enough to drop that much dough? Regardless, even if you’re not feeling up for the splurge, chances are this outrageous dessert will be plastered all over your Instagram feed.

This isn’t the first record-breaking dessert for the legendary restaurant. Serendipity 3’s $25,000 frozen hot chocolate won the Guinness World Records title of the most expensive dessert in the world back in 2007.

So if you’re looking for the ultimate “treat yo’self” treat and you don’t want to buy literally 40 McDonald’s milkshakes, you’ve got yourself a winner with this luxe creation. It’s just too bad you can’t take the Swarovski crystals sundae glass home with you.
