No one wants to be stuck at home in August. August is the month for adventures. But if your budget is tight, we have some ideas that’ll help you hit the road and live out your summer travel dreams. Here are some stellar flight deals from big cities around the country to start your flight search off with a bargain.

From New York City…

To Cancún: $401 — This straight shot to Cancún is an easy four-hour journey from the totally tolerable beaches of NYC to the dreamy sands of Mexico. The margaritas are 100 percent better than Rockaway, amigos.

To St. Thomas: $330 — If you’re dreaming of blue skies and even bluer water, you’ve got to snag this deal. August is pretty hot in the Caribbean, but it doesn’t really matter since you’ll be spending most of your time on the beach, right?

To Dublin: $440 — It’s $440 to get to the capital of the Republic of Ireland, with its castles, bridges and pubs. Summer in Ireland is oh-so-green, so get ready for views on views. Although, heads up: You’ve got a 12-hour overnight layover in Glasglow on the way home.

To Reykjavik: $280 — Thank you, WOW Air. We love these uber cheap flights to Iceland. Although you won’t see the northern lights with the same frequency in the warmer months as you would in the winter, it is prime hiking time in August in Iceland.

To Cartagena: $459 — This flight does get you to Colombia for less than $500, but you also have to figure out how to spend 34 hours in Atlanta on the way. We love us some ATL, but that’s one hefty layover.

From Chicago…

To Montreal: $404 — Flights to Europe from Chicago might be a little pricey, but you can get the same European flare in Montreal at a much more reasonable cost this summer.

To San José del Cabo: $418 — Landlocked Chicagoans, you can get yourself to the ocean in Baja for just over 400 bucks. Lake Michigan is fab, but Cabo is on another level with surf, sand and yummy local snacks.

From Los Angeles…

To Mexico City: $296 — Fly to the central Mexican metropolis for just under $300. It’s a nice out-of-the-country getaway that doesn’t make you cross an ocean, but you still get all of the major food, culture and music benefits.

To Toronto: $489 — We love Canada, but we don’t think Toronto gets enough love. The biggest city in Canada, Toronto is right on Lake Ontario, giving it waterfront views and making it home to some of the countries coolest bars and restaurants.

To Bogotá: $451 — It’s a trek to reach colorful, mountainous Bogotá — nine hours plus a quick transfer in Panama City. But we think you’ll love the Colombian city even more for the remote feeling once you’re there.

To Calgary: $489 — Flying to Calgary is the easiest way to access Canada’s beloved Banff National Park. It’s only a 90-minute drive from the city to the Canadian Rocky Mountains and the Insta-famous Lake Louise.

To Punta Cana: $396 — Resort paradise Punta Cana boasts all-inclusives galore, but also publically accessible beaches on the same stretches of pristine sand and endlessly clear ocean water.

From Washington D.C…

To Quebec City: $415 — Montreal’s northern sister city has the same French flavor, charming streets and even French speakers. You can almost pretend you’ve crossed an entire ocean to visit our friends in the Great White North.

To Aruba: $456 — With palm trees galore, the beaches of Aruba are beckoning. Yes, you can find the heat at home, but this is tropical heat — not literal swampy D.C. humidity.

Note: Flight prices were accurate at the time of writing but can change in an instant as other eager travelers snap them up.
