Spotlight

You could be draining your phone battery without even knowing it. If you leave it plugged into your charger while you sleep, your phone “tops off” its charge throughout the night even after it’s reached the 100 percent mark. That means that every time your phone reaches 99 percent, the phone pulls back in more charge. Eight hours of constantly pushing and pulling energy can overheat your phone and wear out the battery.

Other Big Offenders: Leaving your phone out in a hot space (like the front seat of a sunny car) is a definite battery life crusher. And when you let you let your phone die completely before reaching for a charging cord, you put that much extra stress on the battery to bring your device back to life.

The Bottom Line: Keep an eye on that charger so your phone never quite reaches 100 percent, and store it in a cool place as often as possible. Oh, and do your best to not let that baby die! [Swirled]
