Since 2015, General Motors Chairman and CEO Mary Barra has ranked number one on Fortune’s Most Powerful Women list. However, this year, a new fierce female has taken the top spot.

Fortune released its Most Powerful Women 2018 list on Monday, September 24, and Lockheed Martin Chairman, President and CEO Marillyn Hewson is number one. Hewson ranks first on the list because of her leadership at aerospace and defense company Lockheed Martin. She’s implemented new technology that supports U.S. national security, plus the White House’s new “Space Force” initiative. So far this year, Lockheed Martin has solidified $1 billion in contracts, which has increased its value to nearly $100 billion. We think it’s safe to say that Hewson is a badass.

The entire 2018 list includes 51 women who are really making waves in their industries. From healthcare and tech to finance and entertainment, we’ve featured many of these amazing females in past articles, so it’s no wonder they made the list.
