Americans love delivery — that’s a given. We’re suckers all things convenient. In a world where you can have gourmet meals delivered to your front door at the tap of a screen, it’s no surprise that Americans avoid meal prepping whenever they can. But an alarming number of us will do anything in our power to avoid the kitchen entirely.

A new survey by Innit — the world’s first connected food platform — asked 1,000 Americans about their weekly dinner routines and found that a solid number of Americans intentionally stay out of the kitchen. One in three Americans cook less than three times per week. Only 22 percent cook two to three times a week and 10 percent cook one or fewer meals per week.

Innit also found that only 21 percent of Americans do weekly meal planning and 27 percent don’t do any meal planning at all. Meal prep might be a pain in the moment, but it ends up saving you money, time and even empty calories throughout the week.

In the survey, 62 percent of Americans say meal planning stresses them out. And we get it — planning a meal can be stressful. Planning, in general, can be stressful depending on your time management skills and how comfortable you are in the kitchen.
