Well, enter Zhoug Sauce, a spicy green herbal blend with Middle Eastern roots.

If you’re a fan of pesto or any other fresh, herbaceous sauce that can succeed in any dish, you’ll be a fan. Eight-ounce tubs of Zhoug Sauce are sold for just $2.99 at Trader Joe’s.

Trader Joe’s Zhoug Sauce is a vibrant, fresh, spicy and fragrant sauce that’s made with cilantro, canola oil, jalapeño peppers, chili flakes, garlic, cardamom, sea salt and cumin seeds. It’s labeled as “very spicy,” but if you’re already a spicy food fan, you might think it falls more on the mild side.

You can use this zesty green sauce as a dip for your veggies or pita bread, a topping for your fish tacos, a sandwich spread, a sauce for your pasta or a bold marinade for your fish, chicken or steak. You could even incorporate a little Zhoug Sauce into your shakshuka for breakfast, make a Greek yogurt sauce for your veggie tots or mix it in with some butter for your dinner rolls.
