This Is The World’s Most Expensive Taco (And It’s Pricey!)

Would you spend $25,000 on a taco? Frida Restaurant at The Grand Velas Los Cabos hotel in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico hopes so.

What’s in this pricey dish, you ask? The pair of soft corn tortilla tacos consist of langoustine, gold flakes, Kobe beef, Almas Beluga caviar and black truffle brie cheese. They come with salsa made from dried Morita chile peppers, Ley .925 tequila and civet coffee.

Juan Licerio Alcala, the restaurant’s executive chef, told Conde Nast Traveler, “I created the taco by searching for the most premium products from Mexico — like the Morita chiles, tequila, lobster — and combining them with the most expensive ingredients found around the globe.”

If you have (serious) cash to burn, Frida, which is named after renowned artist Frida Kahlo, recommends a $150,000 bottle of tequila to accompany the tacos. Ley .925 Pasión Azteca Ultra-Premium Añejo comes in a handmade bottle created from gold and pure platinum.

Pricey foods have captured headlines in recent weeks. First there was word of the most expensive cup of coffee in America, which will set you back $18. Then came news of a special strawberry in Hong Kong that costs $22. Of course, that’s pennies compared to Alcala’s tacos down in Mexico.
