2. Workout of the Week: The Hollow Hold
Work your core and improve your posture at the same time with the hollow hold. Lie down on your back with your legs extended and your arms reaching out into a T shape. Engage your core to lift your arms, shoulders and legs, pressing your lower back into the floor. Reach your arms out and up toward the sky, and point your toes away from you as you keep your legs straight. Breathe as you hold your body in this position until you’re ready to rest. [Swirled]
3. What to Watch: “Follow This”
“Follow This,” a documentary-style series by Buzzfeed, dives deep into taboo topics ranging from ASMR to drug clinics that give people a safe space to get high. You’ll learn a ton from each episode, even if the topics aren’t exactly in your wheelhouse. [Netflix]
4. What to Read: “The Two Kinds Of Decay” by Sarah Manguso
In her 2008 memoir, Sarah Manguso lyrically journeys back to her then-mystery diagnosis stamped on her at age 21. Unlike other memoirs, in which the memoirist highlights their triumph over their biggest obstacle, Manguso describes her struggle through her illness in a raw, unaltered fashion, shedding light on the truth of suffering. [Amazon]
5. App Of The Week: Foodie
The Foodie app helps you take the best food photos. It has all kinds of filters and effects that enhance all of the natural colors in your food, and it’s super easy to use — even for photography novices. [iTunes]
6. R&R: Activated Charcoal Soap
Ditch your plain old soap for an activated charcoal bar, which will deep-clean your pores without drying out your skin. It attracts and locks in the toxins and free radicals on your body from all kinds of environmental factors that might be causing your breakouts or skin irritation. PS: It feels amazing. [Swirled]
7. What to Eat: Trader Joe’s Apricot Cherry Cranberry Goat Cheese
Goat cheese lovers, gather. Trader Joe’s launched an apricot cherry cranberry goat cheese that will make you taste all the fall flavors in one incredible bite. Spread it on crostinis, bake it into some phyllo dough or just eat it with a spoon (our fave option). [Swirled]
8. What to Drink: White Claw Hard Seltzer
Out with the rosé, in with the hard seltzer. Get your bubbly on with White Claw Hard Seltzer, which comes in four delicious flavors: black cherry, ruby grapefruit, natural lime and raspberry. The best part? Each can clocks in at just 100 calories. [Swirled]
9. Dream Destination: Granada, Spain
Spain’s sleepy southern city of Granada is home to one of the most unique and awe-inspiring palaces in Europe. The Alhambra is unlike any other European castle, with stunning architecture, lush gardens and sweeping Andalucian views. The gardens and intricately carved archways will blow you away. [Swirled]
