Are you dreaming of the remote work life? Do you love mountains, skiing, snow and maple syrup? Then, friend, we have the opportunity of a lifetime to share with you. (No, it’s not moving to Canada — although, we’re constantly tempted.) The state of Vermont will pay you $10,000 to move there and work remotely.

Starting next year, you can relocate to Vermont, keep your remote job and get an extra $10,000 (paid over two years) for work expenses. You could use your 10K to cover moving costs, coworking memberships or a daily latte at your new favorite Vermont cafe. Just kidding — you probably can’t charge your lattes. But you can use the money for internet access, software and other business expenses.

Vermont’s population is aging rapidly and the state needs new young blood in the mix. There are only about 625,000 people in the entire state, which is perfect for the introverted remote workers who dream of wide-open coffee shop tables where they can camp out for hours on end.

There will be 100 of these spots open for the first three years of the program, called remote worker grants. After that, 20 people each year can take advantage of the offer.

If Vermont is calling your name, it’s first-come, first-serve, starting in January of 2019. Get ready for cozy winter workspaces with a piping hot maple macchiato in the Green Mountain State!
