What To Expect At New York’s Instagram-Ready Candytopia

Candytopia is almost like a collaboration of Willy Wonka and Alice in Wonderland with a sprinkle of Harry Potter. The Instagrammable warehouse is a maze of candy-themed rooms located right in New York City (with a second location in San Francisco). We checked out the New York candy theme park, ready to get our sweet tooth on.

Guests are guided through a giant bronze gate with gold cursive that spells out Candytopia. You’ll walk through a room full of old-school clocks, where one even lowers down to offer guests some candy. There are candy statues and whole rooms decked out with colorful landscapes and candy-coated props.

There’s a room full of famous paintings that were recreated entirely out of candy. From Frida Kahlo’s self-portrait to Andy Warhol’s famous lips painting to Vincent Van Gogh’s The Starry Night, you’ll get to see how many pieces of candy were used and how many hours of labor were involved in the creation process. You’ll find an ocean-themed room with a giant shark made out of little gummy sharks, a rainbow confetti shower, an enormous candy unicorn and a swinging 💯 symbol — a perfect spot for a photo shoot.

On an interactive level, there’s a room decked out with a blue sky background and human-sized gumballs that you can throw around (if you can wrangle them). Throughout the whole tour of Candytopia there are a few chances to grab candy and chocolate, but not as many as we were hoping. But you’ll end the whole experience with a giant marshmallow pit to jump around in.

To conclude your sugary excursion, there’s a gift shop (surprise, surprise) where you can purchase all of the donut pillows, gummy champagne bottles and Candytopia shirts you want.

All in all, we wouldn’t suggest buying a ticket to Candytopia unless your budget revolves around Instagrammable events or you’re with a child who’s begging you to take them. Tickets range from $26 for kids (ages four through 12) to $34 for adults. Admission is free for kids under three years old. For that price, we would’ve liked a few more interactive activities like a DIY milkshake station or some sugary goodie bags.

While the themed rooms are pretty creative and you’ll leave with a bunch of awesome photos, you’ll walk out of Candytopia with about as much candy as you’d get from trick-or-treating on a slow night.
