Sitting On A Vibrating Platform Can Make You Skinny, According To Scientists
So there is a shortcut, it seems. Diet and exercise have been the two constant factors in maintaining a healthy lifestyle since the beginning of time, but it’s 2017, and though they’re important, we had to have found some legit supplement or alternative, right? Vibrating platform exercise is here, it’s real and we’re absolutely ready to give it a shot.
A recent study conducted by Augusta University researchers showed that though laying or sitting on a vibrating platform doesn’t exactly require much effort as a full-on workout, it may provide similar results.
The exercise involves standing or sitting on a vibrating machine, which stimulates your muscles, contracting and relaxing them multiple times per second.
The study first used obese or overweight mice to participate in regular exercise and vibration. The mice walked 45 minutes on a treadmill with a slight incline or spent 20 minutes on a whole-body vibration machine every day for three months. At the end of the trial, the effects of both exercises were the same.
Meghan McGee-Lawrence, who led the research, found that their study was the first to prove vibration was a possible alternative to exercise. The group still has to test in humans, though.
Another study conducted by Dutch scientists proved that whole-body vibration exercise paired with a hypocaloric diet can help shave off five to 10 percent of their body weight, mostly fat loss, after six to 12 months of training. The subjects of the study trained for 11-15 minutes a day.
There is definitely evidence supporting the effectiveness of vibration exercise. If you’re one of those people who just can’t with that aerobics class, this option may be an alternative to look into. We know we’d be down to try it.
