Flying cars are one thing, but flying pizza is a whole new level of weird. Uber’s plans for food delivery by drone have been officially approved by the federal government. The company’s initiative will be a part of tests by the Department of Transporation as it trials the drone delivery service exclusively in San Diego.

With the tap of your screen, your food will fly through the sky and land on your doorstep in anywhere between five and 30 minutes after its prepared. According to Bloomberg, Uber is now the largest food delivery business in the world, so it makes sense the company would be a pioneer in the world of drone delivery.

Uber is not the first major company to test out drone delivery. According to Food and Wine, a Hong Kong company called FoodPanda already delivers meals by drone with plans to expand to other countries. Dominos has also tested delivery through drones.

While the idea of sushi landing on your doorstep within minutes is ridiculously cool, it’ll be interesting to see how Uber keeps up with the demand. The San Diego sky is about to get pretty busy.
