If you’re due for a killer vacation, but would much rather spend time relaxing than running around, you have to visit Turkey’s Pamukkale thermal pools. Imagine floating in a warm natural spring and coating yourself in the earth’s finest minerals. Now that is something you can’t get at your local spa.

Located in Denizli, Turkey, the natural site, named the Pamukkale, awaits you. The hot springs and travertines (terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water) attract over two million tourists each year. The limestone-deposited hot springs are rich in calcium and waters can reach up to 96 degrees.

But the experience isn’t just about the baths — any history buff would be thrilled to see Denizli because it was a former Greek-Roman spa city called Hierapolis that boasts incredible ruins. The ruins include former bathhouses, temples and a theater to gaze upon after your thermal bath.

To get there, you’ll have to clear an entire day. The closest city, Kusadasi, is three hours away by car. Antalya and Marmaris are four hours away, and Bodrum is five hours away. You can take a bus or hire a car to reach the destination.

Though it’s a bit of a headache to get there, we promise these heavenly baths will be well-worth the trip.
