If you’re crushing your weighted workouts but still not reaping the rewards, your diet could be to blame. Read on and learn how to understand the benefits for your body, so you’re more likely to stick with the new habits you’re trying to develop. [Swirled]

Life Hack Of The Day: Sneakers Edition

For sparkling kicks, try this hack. Use an old toothbrush dipped in some undiluted white vinegar to delicately spot clean small stains out of your white sneaks.

Health

That midnight run to the convenience store to stock up on potato chips, sweets and starchy carbs can cause more harm than good. While a sugary donut might temporarily seem to soothe a craving, it creates inflammation in the body, which has been linked to a higher risk of depression while processed meats have been linked to poor moods and migraines. Opting for more nutritious foods can better curb your hunger and prevent any harm to your mental health. [Swirled]

Recipe Of The Day: If you’re not familiar with agua fresca, you’re in for a real treat. Agua fresca, or “fresh water” is an icy, cold beverage made from pure fruit, herbs, with water and a bit of sweetness added in – without being too sweet. To make a marvelous melon agua fresca, puree cantaloupe or honeydew and let drain for at least one hour then give it a squeeze to release the juice. MIx the freshly squeezed juice with lime juice, a pinch of salt and a touch of sugar (if needed). Chill, then top with club soda and serve. [Smitten Kitchen]

A quick tip from yours truly: Agua frescas are a Mexican staple and can be made from tons of different ingredients including cucumbers, celery, berries — the sky’s the limit. They’re especially refreshing when served with a spicy meal or on a hot afternoon.

Don your best backpacking gear and get ready for a trek on The Long Trail, a scenic trail that winds from the Massachusetts border with Vermont up toward the Canadian border. The main trail is over 270 miles long, with winding backcountry paths that might make you feel like you’re trekking through a far off land, instead of right here in the U.S. Hiking the entire trail from start to finish takes between 20 and 30 days and the best time to go is late summer or early fall to catch the best weather and views in Vermont.
