Starbucks Brings An Upscale Italian Bakery To Its Seattle Roastery

Starbucks devotees tend to support baked goods just as much as coffee. So, they’ll be pleased to learn that, on November 7, the global coffeehouse chain announced the opening of the very first United States outpost of Princi bakery and café — a high-end Milan-based bakery — at Starbucks’ Reserve Roastery and Tasting Room in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. Princi bakery, which has already gained a ton of attention across its stores in Milan and London, offers freshly baked Italian foods.

The Seattle roastery opened in December 2014 as an immersive coffee experience dedicated to coffee roasting, Starbucks retail, coffee education and the company’s small-lot Reserve coffees. At Princi, customers will get to choose daily from a constantly rotating list of fresh sourdough bread, flaky cornetti (Italian croissants), focaccia pizza and crispy pastries that are made in special three-deck ovens imported from Germany. The bakery will also offer breakfast sandwiches, desserts, salads and a full bar serving Aperol spritz and other drinks.

This Milan-based bakery will become the exclusive food offering in all new Starbucks Reserve Roastery locations, including one set to open in Shanghai in December and one set to open in Milan in late 2018. Locations in New York, Tokyo and Chicago will follow.
