It’s April, which means spring allergies are officially in full swing. If you’re sick of popping a bunch of pills and need some serious sinus relief, try this all-natural acupressure approach. Push your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Then place your pointer finger on the skin in between your eyebrows above the bridge of your nose. Apply pressure (but not too much!) with your finger for 20 seconds or so as you continue pressing your tongue into the roof of your mouth. When you let go, you should start to feel a little movement in the back of your throat and your sinuses beginning to drain. Ahhh. [Swirled]

Life Hack Of The Day: Lemon Edition

When life hands you a bowl of lemons… this simple hack will juice said lemons in less than a minute. Roll your lemon (or any citrus fruit) on the counter to loosen the insides a bit. Then poke a hole in the non-stem end with a toothpick or skewer and squeeze. Juice as much as you need, then store the fruit in a resealable bag until the next time you want a burst of freshness.

Health

Trust your gut and skip the big salad before working out. There are two reasons why a handful of nuts or a small cup of yogurt is a better choice for a pre-workout snack. First, the raw veggies that make up the salad take a lot of time and energy to digest, which can lead to stomach discomfort if you aren’t careful. Second, unless you add protein to the salad, your blood sugar will be imbalanced, making it harder for your muscles to recover. If you still want a salad before your next workout sesh, wait at least two hours before you start sweating. Otherwise, you run the risk of cramping. Ugh. [Well and Good]

Food + Drink

We’re big fans of small businesses — especially women-owned businesses — and, of course, great coffee. So when we saw that Food & Wine put together a roundup of the best coffee in each state, we just had to share the news (and caffeine buzz). Check out Horseshoe Cafe in New Hampshire, Greater Goods Roasting in Texas or the shop in your home state that’s making everyone’s day a bit better. [Food & Wine]

Recipe Of The Day: A bright and sunny lemon cake really… well… takes the cake! Three buttery layers of cake are whipped up from a mix of butter, sugar, eggs, lemon, buttermilk and flour. The buttermilk adds the perfect amount of moisture and a tang that pairs perfectly with the lemon. But the real showstopper? The cake is covered in the ultimate frosting mash-up — a blend of buttercream, cream cheese, lemon and OMG-ness. Fork yeah! [Sally’s Baking Addiction]

Have you ever wished for your own ‘Night at the Museum’ moment? Well now’s your chance to get up close and personal with the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of its iconic pyramid-shaped atrium, the Musée du Louvre is partnering with Airbnb and hosting a contest for a one-night sleepover at the museum. But, you have to act fast — the contest ends April 12th. [Airbnb]
