Reduced-Calorie Prosecco Is Now A Reality

Bring on the bubbly! Italy-based Casa Gancia is out with a reduced-calorie, low sugar Prosecco called Gancia Leggero.

While maintaining the same alcohol content as regular Prosecco, the new product contains only 65 calories per glass, compared to 90. According to its maker, the drink also has 75 percent less sugar than a standard glass.

Gancia Leggero is making its debut with the Stonegate Pub Company in London for its first six months on the market. We can only hope it crosses the pond to the U.S. soon.

Suzanne Baker at the Stonegate Pub Company said, “Prosecco is already considered one of the lighter drinks, and now with a ‘skinny’ version, this is no doubt going to tap into the growing consumer trend for low-calorie and low-sugar products.”

We’re all about new drinks hitting the scene. While you’re waiting for the “light” Prosecco to hit the U.S., try a coffee martini in the meantime. Combining coffee and vodka may seem basic, but we’re calling the delicious concoction the drink of 2017.
