Weekend Edition

1. Jam Of The Week

Our current obsession is “Dance Away My Broken Heart” from Abby Anderson’s debut album “I’m Good.” Seriously, we can’t turn it off repeat, and it’s exactly what you need to boost your girl-power. Anderson’s megawatt smile, glam locks and quest for finding the perfect taco (we get it) make you want to be her BFF — we know we do.

The 21-year-old started performing at the iconic Ryman Auditorium when she was just 15, graduated high school early (holla!) and moved out on her own to Nashville at 17. We predict you’re going to be hearing more of Anderson’s soulful music very soon. [iTunes | Amazon Music | Spotify]

2. Workout of the Week: Simple Spinal Twist

Get your day started without even leaving bed by doing some wake-up stretches like the simple spinal twist. Bring your knees back toward your chest and let them fall to the right side of your body as you exhale. Extend your arms out to your sides to create a T shape, and let the weight of your legs create a nice opening sensation in your left hip, thigh and lower back. When you’re ready, bring your knees back to the center on an inhale and slowly drop them to the left side of your body with another exhale. [Swirled]

3. What To Buy: Tension-Relieving Mat And Pillow Set

Take the strain off those tired joints and muscles with a tension-relieving mat and pillow set. You’ll feel a surge of relaxation in your back and neck thanks to its therapeutic properties, and the set even comes with an easy-carry tote bag. [Amazon]

4. What to Read: “The Heart’s Invisible Furies” by John Boyne

Everything about this novel from John Boyne is heart-wrenching, but in the way that compels you to keep turning the page until there are none left to turn. From family to friends to romantic relationships, this book covers all of the ways we connect with others throughout life — for better and for worse. [Amazon]

6. R&R: The Perfect Olive Oil Hair Mask

Staying in just got a lot more luxe. If you want to give your hair the royal treatment, mix some extra virgin olive oil with honey for a de-frizzing mask, or combine the oil with coconut oil for deep hydration. [Swirled]

7. What To Drink: Classic Margarita

Happy National Margarita Day! Live it up by whipping up the classic drink for yourself. With some good ol’ tequila, lime juice, triple sec liqueur and simple syrup, you have a flavor parade just waiting to be drunk. Don’t forget the salt! [Swirled]

8. What To Watch: “FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened”

We’d be surprised if you haven’t heard about the fiasco that was the Fyre Festival in 2017. This documentary on the months leading up to the event and the downfall of it all is mind-blowing. After selling out almost immediately by promising amazing million-dollar experiences and acts like Blink 182, serial entrepreneur Billy McFarland and his team failed to deliver — big time. Your jaw will drop every few minutes while watching this doc, but it’s so worth it. [Netflix]

9. Dream Destination: Rishikesh, India

Nestled in the foothills of the breathtaking Himalayas alongside the Holy River Ganges, Rishikesh is surrounded by serenity. The city is home to diverse landscapes, mesmerizing flora and fauna, breathtaking mountains, cascading waterfalls and more. Bonus: Adventure junkies can find lots of heart-pumping activities like white river rafting, waterfall trekking, bungee jumping, kayaking, mountain biking, snorkeling and mountain climbing.
