Here’s How You Can Become A Professional Mermaid (Yes, Really)

@weekiwacheesprings

If you’ve always thought Ariel was 100 percent wrong to want to leave her life under the sea, we have the career opportunity of your dreams: professional mermaid.

Weeki Wachee Springs State Park in Florida is hiring a mermaid to join its crew of performers. They perform musical numbers and plays (including Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid) – all in the water with real-deal mermaid tails.

Now, you do have to be an expert swimmer for this gig. So swim team gals and synchronized swimmer ladies, you’ve got this one in the bag. The audition will include an endurance swim test (300 yards) and 10 minutes of treading water.

Successful mermaids will train with a mermaid trainer to get the hang of the tail (as well as learning the secrets to breathing during the shows).

If you’re ready to be part of the mermaid world, you can reserve an audition spot by emailing [email protected] by January 11. The actual auditions will be held on January 13.
