Pepper X Is Officially The Hottest Pepper In The World

@chillidoctor

The world’s hottest pepper seems to change pretty frequently. We didn’t think it could get any more scorching than Dragon’s Breath, which once ranked #1 with 2.48 million Scoville units, but of course, we were wrong. The newest champion of deathly spiciness? Pepper x, which hits 3.18 million Scoville units, is officially the hottest. It’s 300 times hotter than a jalapeño.

Delish reports that the pepper was created by Ed Currie, who also created The Carolina Reaper (which was named the hottest pepper in the world at one point).

We can’t think of a reason why you’d want to get your hands on this pepper, which we imagine is unfit for consumption in its pure form. However, you can try a diluted version of it in what is still named the hottest sauce in the world, The Last Dab, which is available on The Heatonist for $20.

Our ultimate opinion: whatever. If you want to torture yourself, go for it, but we’ll stick with keeping our taste buds alive and our tongues un-scorched.
