Welcome To The Future: Outer Space Hotel Pods Are Coming By 2021

@bigelowspaceops

We are one giant step closer to achieving that childhood dream of being an astronaut. Or at least an astronaut for as long as you’re on vacation. By 2021, one hotelier wants to build hotel pods in outer space.

Bigelow Space Operations, headed up by hotel chain Budget Suites founder Robert Bigelow, is planning an inflatable space hotel. Yes, you read that correctly. Inflatable. Space. Hotel.

Even crazier? Bigelow plans to have the “fully autonomous standalone space stations” ready for passengers by 2021.

At 55 feet long, each pod will be part of a larger space station that will orbit the earth. You could see our planet from above from the comfort of your hotel bed.

According to The Daily Mail, a bed in the spacecraft won’t come cheap. Bigelow told the publication costs would likely be six or seven figure numbers. Hey, $100,000 outer space adventure.

Live long and prosper, travelers. We’re going to infinity and beyond!
