Grocery Shopping Dominates The Online Shopping World More Than Anything Else
You can buy a lot of weird sh*t online. You can get anything from a keyboard-shaped waffle iron to live ladybugs to a yodeling pickle. But out of all of the outrageous things you can purchase in a matter of minutes, it looks like groceries are the most popular purchase, according to a new CreditCards.com report.
The online shopping report shows that 26 percent of adults in the United States are buying groceries online every week and 21 percent are buying prepared food and drinks on a weekly basis. The other top categories of online purchases include streaming services, clothing, travel and event tickets.
Online shopping lets us enjoy instant gratification from the comfort of our homes with access to products across the world at our fingertips. Since everything is so convenient, impulse buying has become a huge problem when it comes to budgeting, with 60 percent of millennials admitting to impulse purchases within the past year.
And since good food keeps on becoming more conveniently available by the day, there’s no telling how much of the online shopping world will become centered around food in the future. But hey, we’re not mad about it. Who’s hungry?
