Elon Musk Is Designing A 30-Minute Train From NYC To D.C.

Currently, the travel time from New York City to Washington D.C. is, at best, a little under three hours on the Acela Express. But guess what? Plans are in the works to create a train that could travel the distance in just 30 minutes. MIND. BLOWN. The endeavor comes from no other than Elon Musk.

The billionaire tech mogul behind Tesla, SolarCity and SpaceX is working on the new project. The Hyperloop, which is a train that could transport you from NYC to D.C. in 30 minutes, got verbal governmental approval.

After initially pitching the idea in 2013 and even constructing a test track in 2016, Musk is moving forward with plans to build the train under The Boring Company (a tunneling company he recently launched). All Musk needs now is formal governmental approval to make this endeavor official.

The project could be just the beginning of a new transportation system throughout the United States. Musk is also beginning work on underground tunnels in Los Angeles that would help decongest traffic.
