• The chefs, John Fraser and Nicholas Farias, are known for their inventive “Meatless Monday” prix fixe menus at Dovetail, their Michelin-starred restaurant on the Upper West Side

• The name of the restaurant comes from Nix v. Hedon, the 1893 Supreme Court ruling that classified the tomato as a vegetable, not a fruit, under U.S. customs law. In court, both the plaintiff’s and defense’s counsels tried to bolster their cases by reading the dictionary definitions for different fruits and vegetables out loud
