New Zealand Is Every Adventure Junkie’s Dream Destination
If you were born ready for adventure, New Zealand is your go-to destination for your next trip. And while it may be pricey to get there, the country, which grabbed the number one spot for best country in the world by the Telegraph in 2016, has the best extreme outdoor sports scene ever. We’ll just say this— New Zealand outdoor sports are not for the faint of heart.
Here are just a few things you can do in New Zealand that just aren’t the same anywhere else:
1. Take a really *extreme* walk.
The Milton Track is notorious for being a really gorgeous walk — so gorgeous, in fact, that an article appeared in the London Spectator over a century ago claiming that the Milton Track was the “finest walk in the world.”
So what makes it extreme? The path is 33 miles long and takes you to the country’s highest waterfall, over suspension bridges, through valleys and directly in front of the country’s most beautiful lakes.
2. Bungee jumping, duh!
In a country where even the sheep bungee jump, we can unofficially say that this is the bungee jumping capital on the planet. The country’s jagged cliffs and gorgeous views from the top make the jump all the more enjoyable. Millions of people travel thousands of miles just to take the plunge, so we’re gonna take a guess and say it is totally worth it.
3. Skydiving, because you’re already there, right?
There is not a person in the world who wouldn’t say New Zealand is gorgeous. The snow-capped mountain tops, low valleys and shorelines definitely make the country a destination just because of its beauty…which is why seeing it from thousands of feet above ground just makes the experience that much better.
4. Snowboarding, because you may as well see snow while you’re there.
No matter what time of year, you can rest assured some of New Zealand’s highest peaks are snowy enough for a snowboarding session. And since the mountains can vary in elevation and in smoothness, you have your pick of difficult slopes to explore.
5. Jet-Boating, because the entire country is surrounded by water.
New Zealand boasts some of the most breathtaking rivers, and let’s not even talk about the beaches. With so many rivers and direct access to the ocean, it’s no wonder tourists and locals alike take advantage of jet-boating. It can feel a lot like white water rafting in the river, but you can totally choose smooth sailing on the sea.
