Life Hack Of The Day: Great Hair Edition

Before you tuck in for the night, gently twist or braid your hair and tie it off with a scrunchie. Not only will this prevent your locks from tangling and breaking, but it will also give you gentle waves and allow you to set down the styling tools. Hello, silky mane, goodbye bedhead.

Health

Yes, it’s possible to get (and stay) fit when you’re super busy and work odd hours. First things first, ditch the gym. An outdoor run allows you the ultimate time flexibility, helps you soak up some vitamin D (don’t forget your SPF!) and can even improve your sleep quality once your shift ends. Another option: Sneak in a 20-minute, at-home HIIT workout whenever makes the most sense for your schedule. You don’t have to sweat for hours to stay on track! [Swirled]

Career + Finance + Tech

Vampire energy, otherwise known as standby power, collectively costs Americans roughly $19 billion every year. By learning which rooms use the most vampire energy, or standby power (which is used when tech and appliances are left in idle or sleep mode), you can reduce your power bill each month. [Swirled]

Recipe Of The Day: Fire up your grill and make a crowd-pleasing rack of tender baby back ribs guaranteed to make any mouth water. Begin by removing the membrane (the thin skin the runs along the back of the ribs) from two racks of baby back ribs. Rise and pat dry. Coat the ribs in a dry rub made from raw sugar, salt, pepper, chili powder, paprika, granulated garlic and onion and cayenne. Transfer the ribs to an outdoor grill and cook indirect at 300-degrees for two hours. Remove the ribs, place on two sheets of heavy duty aluminum foil and coat with apricot preserves, brown sugar and add a splash of apricot nectar to keep the ribs moist. Return the foil packets to the grill for another 45 minutes, then unwrap and grill directly until they are golden brown. Trust us, these ribs are worth it. [Swirled]

A quick tip from yours truly: Your ribs are fully cooked when you can slide a toothpick in and out with little resistance. If they aren’t done, toss them back on the grill for a few minutes.
