This App Gets You A Kickass Lunch For $6 A Day

@mealpalapp

City dwellers, you understand the struggle of trying to find a reasonably priced lunch that doesn’t taste like total shit. It seems impossible, right? You either opt for the overpriced salad, go for dollar pizza (which is, most of the time, disappointing) or give up and just bring the same lunch every day. If you’re at all interested in saving money and enjoying variety in your lunch routine, look no further than MealPal, which has set up shop in cities across the country.

So what is MealPal exactly?

MealPal is the first and only meal-planning company of its kind in the U.S. The start-up allows customers to pre-order meals prepared by nearby restaurants a day in advance and lets them choose the time they’d like to pick up their meals.

The hook is that you have all the best restaurants around you to choose from on a daily basis — sushi today, a sandwich tomorrow, pizza the next day and so on. So basically, you never have to eat the same thing twice.

Each day, you’ll be prompted by MealPal to choose the next day’s meal. You can select an option from a long list of participating restaurants in your area. The restaurants have a signature dish on offer, so you can’t exactly browse a restaurant’s menu and choose anything. But we can guarantee you the options we’ve come across are great.

We signed up for MealPal in New York City, and using the map option, we could see where each restaurant option was located. That way, we wouldn’t accidentally choose a banh mi sandwich from a restaurant 30 blocks away.

Upon picking up your lunch, you head to the front of the restaurant and let the staff know you’re there for MealPal. They’ll ask you for your name and then hand you your just-made meal. Simple, right?

And the cost?

You have multiple plan options to choose from on MealPal’s website. If you don’t want to commit to going every weekday to grab a meal, you can choose the “Lunch A Bunch” option, which is 12 meals a month. That comes out to approximately three meals a week for $6.39 per meal. But the real steal? The “Lunch A Lot” option, which provides lunch for every weekday (or 20 meals a month) for $5.99 per meal.

Any drawbacks?

If you’re the kind of person who prefers delivery, don’t bother with MealPal. It’s a pickup-only situation, so you’ll have to commit to walking to your chosen restaurant each day to get your meal. That being said, you can use the map option to ensure you choose restaurants close to you.

If you’re ready to kick your lunch game up a notch and try something different every day without breaking the bank, you should try MealPal. We saved tons of money with this app, and we were able to try out all the restaurants around us that we otherwise probably wouldn’t have. We’re fans, that’s for sure.
