This 1970’s Wizard Of Oz Theme Park Borders On The Absurd

Obsessed with The Wizard of Oz? Join the club…no, really, we’re all going to the Land of Oz theme park this year for an exclusive tour. You in?

The theme park debuted in the 1970’s, but closed after a decade following the death of its owner and a fire breaking out in the “Emerald City.” Since then, the park has opened periodically for nostalgic tours, but guess what?! It’s now back in action. You can visit in June or in the fall. The park is located on Beech Mountain in North Carolina.

So what can you expect to experience on a tour?

Your journey will begin at the “fountain of youth,” where a real-life Dorothy will take you to her childhood home. Then you’ll skip with her down the yellow brick road as she guides you through Oz. We can’t confirm that you will literally be skipping, but TBH we could see this happening. Get your skippin’ shoes on.

Tours last between 45 and 60 minutes. Tickets cost $25 a person. Spots are filling up fast, so make sure to buy your ticket as soon as you can if you’re ready to immerse yourself in as much Oz as you can possibly handle.

During your visit to North Carolina, you can also participate in outdoor sports and go to the theater.
