The Results Are In: Here Are The 2017 James Beard Award Winners

Known as the Oscars of the food world, The James Beard Foundation (JBF) Awards honor the nation’s innovative culinary leaders including restaurateurs, chefs, cookbook authors, food journalists, restaurant designers, architects and more. The James Beard Awards are the highest honor that food and beverage professionals in America can receive and they’re meant to celebrate America’s diverse culinary landscape and heritage. Each winner receives a certificate and an engraved medallion. Jesse Tyler Ferguson of ABC’s Modern Family hosted the 2017 JBF Awards Gala, which took place at the Lyric Opera of Chicago on May 1. New York City took the spot for Best New Restaurant with Le CouCou and the award for Outstanding Chef went to Michael Solomonov of Zahav in Philadelphia.

The 2017 Media Awards were hosted by the television personality, chef and food critic Andrew Zimmern (the host of the Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods). The Media Awards (previously known as the Book, Broadcast and Journalism Awards) took place at Chelsea Piers in New York City.
