14 Things Only Punctual People Understand

People typically fall into two camps: the group that’s always early and the group that’s always late. While people from both groups can coexist as friends, there are certainly hiccups along the way… especially for the punctual person. Here are 14 things only the early birds of the world can truly understand and appreciate (but you late folks, keep reading anyway and try to empathize with us here).

1. Being early (a.k.a. on time) brings us a sense of inner peace.

2. Punctuality is something that fuels our sense of control and inner power.

3. But when we’re even at risk of being late, our anxiety skyrockets.

4. No, really. Just the thought of being late makes our hearts race, palms sweat and brains file through all of the possible worst-case scenarios.

5. Even then, though, we somehow end up being early.

6. We’ve learned to expect to beat all of our friends to the designated venue by at least 15 minutes.

7. We carry a book everywhere we go (because we like to read and it makes us look a lot less awkward sitting alone).

8. People arriving 30+ minutes after they say they will is infuriating to us.

9. Actually, we feel like our uber late friends can be downright disrespectful with their tardiness sometimes.

10. Seriously, why don’t you guys just give a way more conservative ETA so you don’t end up late in the first place?

11. Lateness just makes no sense to us.

12. There is no worse a feeling than having your time wasted.

13. And we take pride in never making others feel that frustration.

14. Despite the downsides, we love being the forever early friend and know we’ll always be this way.
