There’s one money issue you’re probably not thinking about before your trip: tipping. It varies from culture to culture and sometimes even from restaurant to restaurant.

Thankfully, travel booking company Globehunters made a handy tool to help you out when you’re not sure whether to leave an extra bit of change or tip a full 20 percent. You can select any country in the world on its website and see the suggested tipping amount for restaurant, hotel and taxi services. To help you out, we listed some of the most-touristed countries’ practices so you’ll have them in your back pocket.

France

Restaurant: Round up the bill for extra-impressive service.

Hotel: 1 or 2 Euros per day for housekeeping.

Taxi: Not expected.

China

Restaurant: Service charges are included.

Hotel: 5RMB per day for housekeeping.

Taxi: Not expected.

Spain

Restaurant: 10 percent for excellent service.

Hotel: 5 Euros per day for housekeeping.

Taxi: Round up the fare.

Italy

Restaurant: 10 percent.

Hotel: 1 or 2 Euros per day for housekeeping.

Restaurant: 10 percent.

Hotel: 20 to 30 Lira for housekeeping at the end of your stay.

Taxi: Round up the fare.

U.K.

Restaurant: With service charge, leave 5 to 10 percent for great service. If there’s no service charge, leave 10 to 15 percent.

Hotel: £1-2 per day for housekeeping.

Taxi: Round up the fare.

Germany

Restaurant: 5 to 15 percent, even with a service charge included.

Hotel: 2 to 3 Euros per day for housekeeping.

Indonesia
