Sometimes, when we have zero energy in the tank and the timing just isn’t quite right for another cup of coffee, we feel compelled to turn to forbidden fruit: energy drinks. We know how Red Bull affects our bodies, yet here we are, stuck in this predicament. Do we pour crap in our mouths for the sake of a much-needed boost? Or do we slog through the rest of the day underperforming because we simply can’t wake up enough to think straight?

Well, luckily, there is such a thing a healthy energy drink out there — or at least not bad for you. And we were able to find six of them. Check out the following energy drink options that, at the end of the day, aren’t total trash for your body.

1. EnerBee Organic Energy

This cute little can gives you a nice energy buzz and supports the beloved honeybee population at the same time. Try out the lemon green tea flavor or the newer hibiscus berry tea. The ingredient list is simple: carbonated water, organic honey, organic cane sugar, organic lemon juice, stevia and natural flavors. No surprises — just how we like our energy drinks.

2. GURU Organic Energy

GURU is an organic, certified vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO option that comes in both an original and light formula. To avoid excess calories from organic cane sugar, the light formula uses the wonder that is monk fruit, a natural sweetener that’s actually healthy for you. And the energy-boosting sources include organic green tea leaf extract, organic guarana seed extract, organic echinacea flower extract and organic panax ginseng root extract. Quite a few things going on there, but none of them are scary.

3. RUNA Clean Energy

RUNA Clean Energy is an organic, Fair-Trade Certified™ energy drink made from the guayusa leaf, which comes from the Amazon rainforest. It tastes like an herbal tea with some carbonation and fruit flavor added to the mix. Each 12-ounce can contains 150 milligrams of natural caffeine, thanks to the brewed guayusa leaves. The lightly sweetened flavors include organic cane sugar while the unsweetened options skip it entirely. All of them are flavored naturally.

4. CELSIUS Naturals

CELSIUS has a specific drink line entirely focused on using just natural caffeine and natural sweeteners. The drinks come in both sparkling and non-carbonated versions, so if fizzy drinks aren’t your thing, you’re not out of luck. They’re also gluten-free, kosher, non-GMO and certified vegan. Every flavor is sugar-free and sweetened with stevia, and the natural caffeine comes from green tea extract. Since they’re packed with a variety of vitamins and minerals as well, they’re a dietary supplement and an energy drink in one can.

5. MATI Healthy Energy

Similar to RUNA, this energy drink option gets its punch from brewed guayusa leaves, as well as theobromine, which is a natural stimulant compound found in chocolate. It’s also boosted with potassium and antioxidants, and sweetened with fruit juice rather than sugar. It’s free of artificial ingredients, GMOs, preservatives and synthetic caffeine. MATI comes in six flavors: citrus, cherry, tropical pineapple, passionfruit, blueberry pomegranate and peach mango.

6. Zola Coconut Water With Espresso

The last one on our list isn’t exactly marketed as an energy drink, but that’s definitely what you get when you combine the hydration and electrolyte power of coconut water and the caffeine kick of espresso. Not to mention, these two flavors blend particularly well, making Zola a welcome alternative to an afternoon latte. Each can has the caffeine equivalent of two shots of espresso, and the drink is vegan-friendly and gluten-free.
