Glow-In-The-Dark Donuts Will Light Up Your World

@maatbro

We’ve seen plenty of brightly colored pastries in our day, but there’s a new one we’ve never seen before. Thanks to one brilliant, world-renowned pastry chef, glonuts, with their insane beauty, are about to blow up your Instafeed. Just look at these gorgeous things:

Delish reports that Christopher Thé, the creator of these neon treats and owner of Australian bakery Black Star Pastry, took nearly a year to perfect the art of the glonut.

After considering all possibilities of how to make donut icing glow in the dark, he found that vitamin B was the perfect natural ingredient to do the job. The one issue: vitamin B can often be tart, so he played with different flavor pairings before deciding on adding yuzu. Yuzu, a sweet yet equally tart Japanese fruit, cut the acidity of the vitamin B while still giving the icing a nice kick.

Thé is presenting the neon treats at Vivid Sydney, a festival held in Sydney each year for innovators, artists and chefs alike.

It may be across the globe, but we’d consider getting a plane ticket just to try one of these $7 donuts. We’d like to think we have the funds, but until we do, we can absolutely dream.
