Ghost Donkey: Mezcal, Elevated Nachos & Donkey Decor

[tw-divider]The Scoop[/tw-divider]

  • A donkey-centric nachos and mezcal bar occupies the space attached to Saxon + Parole (formerly Madam Geneva). Nacho Jimenez (The Daily in SoHo) and Eben Freeman are responsible for the eccentric agave-heavy menu at NoHo’s Ghost Donkey
  • Chef Brad Farmerie is the man behind the cocktail bar’s small plates and inspired nachos (with toppings like chorizo and tripe, huitlacoche — also known as the Mexican truffle — epazote, cotija cheese, poblano and tomatillo salsas, and pickled red chilies)
  • The bustling space is decked out with strands of red lights cascading from the ceiling and a white donkey mascot. Get your bubbly fix with the Champagne Cobbler and Prosecco & Paletitas (incorporating Fanny Gerson’s mini Mexican popsicles from La Newyorkina). Satisfy your mezcal cravings with the Mushroom Margarita and a selection of rotating frozen concoctions

You’ll want to try the large format El Burro, a tequila cocktail for two (mezcal, aperol, grapefruit, and chili), served in a ceramic mug shaped like a donkey hauling a wagon full of flowers ($26). Warning — try not to fill up on complimentary puffed corn nuts
