This Beer Is Infused With Fried Chicken And We’re All For It

The Richmond-based Veil Brewing Company collaborated with Evil Twin Brewing in New York to create the Fried Fried Chicken Chicken beer that contains Chick-fil-A chicken tenders. Ironically, don’t expect it to taste like fried chicken. The Double IPA registers at 8 percent ABV and comes in 16-ounce cans. A four pack costs $18.50. Fried Fried Chicken Chicken is being produced in limited quantities and was debuted at Veil Brewing Company’s brewery and taphouse in Richmond. As of right now, it’s only available at the tap house.

The comfort food-infused beer comes through with all kinds of aromatic notes of citrus and pine. The hops are on the savory and salty side, the malt gives you a thick mouth feel like fried chicken would and the color is a hazy orange-reddish tone.

Thrillist reports that the idea was inspired by the Evil Twin founder Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø’s first trip to Cracker Barrel, where the Danish brewer was so enamored by American fried chicken, he thought to marry it with beer. The inspiration from Veil Brewing Company’s side came after the brewers ate a “significant amount of fried chicken at various establishments” around Richmond.

The brewery wrote on its Facebook page that “it doesn’t even remotely taste like chicken” and “if you think it does, you might want to go to the doctor bucko!” Just .4 percent of the mash used for the beer is made with fried chicken, but hey, that’s still more chicken than we’re used to drinking.

The craft beer industry has gone pretty far to create outrageous flavors over the last couple of years, drawing from all kinds of culinary inspiration. There’s been everything from pizza beer to maple bacon coffee beer to oyster stouts to coconut curry beer. A Colorado brewery, Wynkoop Brewing Company, has even gone as far as making a Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout with roasted bull testicles. SORRY, NO. Now there’s a new craft brew on the block and it’s giving us yet another reason to love glorious fried chicken.

If you want to make your experience with a glass of Fried Fried Chicken Chicken even better, pair it with some actual fried chicken or wings and you’ll be on cloud nine.
