If you work on a computer for more than an hour each day, you probably experience digital eye strain — or at least some form of it. Looking at a screen for even just a few hours can strain your vision enough to give you headaches, dry eyes and neck pain. Not good, right? But some of us use computers or devices for our jobs, and we can’t exactly not spend that much time with screens every day. Thankfully, not all is lost. Friends, let us introduce you to F.lux.

F.lux is a cross-platform computer program that eliminates that nasty blue light (the type of light that trashes your eyesight) from your screen. Even cooler: It simulates the light of the room you’re in. For example, if you’re sitting in a super sunny room, your screen will cancel out any blue light and adjust to provide the same type and amount of light as your surroundings.

You can download the program for free on all devices and computers, including Macs and PCs. You can also adjust the F.lux settings once you’ve installed the program and simulate special effects with options like “Darkroom” and “Movie Mode.” To get even more granular, you can adjust specific colors of your screen to make the light warmer or cooler.

Ultimately, our eyesight comes first. We’d prefer not to go blind from looking at screens all day, and if you’re with us, download F.lux. We don’t know how we lived as long as we did without it, TBH.
