You Can See All The Best Sights In The U.S. For Just $213

Chances are, even if you’ve lived in the U.S. your whole life, you’ve never seen all the sights. The country is too damn big, and it’s so expensive to fly from coast to coast. Well, now you can have it all without being poor AF. There’s a continental U.S. train that will show you all there is to see for just $213.

Nope, that is not a joke.

Thrillist reports that you can take a cross-country Amtrak train the full 3,400-miles from coast to coast. Travel blogger Derek Low shared his experience taking the trip, which starts in San Francisco and ends in New York. He said that his train route stopped in every town visitors and Americans alike would want to see.

Low said the trip takes four days total without stopovers, but that those who embrace the experience should absolutely stop and stay in certain towns to get the full experience.

Here’s how to do it:

For the first leg of your trip, buy a California Zephyr ticket to Chicago for as low as $130. Some highlights of the 51-hour ride are the Rocky Mountains, Sierra Nevadas, Winter Park, San Pablo Bay and Glenwood Canyons.

Once you get to Chicago, you’ll take the Lake Shore Limited train for an additional $83. This train will take you on the south side of Lake Michigan, through Pennsylvania’s scenic rolling hills and the Erie Canal, all the way to New York City.
