A Slovakian Company Made Clear Coffee, And It’s…Interesting

@lksblz

Coffee lovers: you may think you know all there is to know about coffee, but we’re here to burst your bubble. Clear coffee is a thing, and trust us — we are just as baffled as you are.

Food Beast reports that CLR CFF, a Slovakian company, created the colorless drink that looks scarily similar to a plain ol’ bottle of water (with a pretty label). Seriously, doesn’t this blow your mind?

So, what’s the purpose of messing with coffee, when so many people love it as it is?

Clear coffee doesn’t stain your teeth. Yep, that’s something we never really thought about. But it makes complete sense. That’s pretty smart…not that we would stop drinking regular coffee for that reason alone.

There are definitely drawbacks to the product that may keep hardcore coffee fans at bay.

There’s virtually no insight into how the coffee is made, other than a vague ingredient list, which only includes water, fresh coffee and “caffeine.” And the caffeine level is pretty low with only 50 mg per bottle. That’s just above what’s in a standard 12oz can of Coca Cola, which has 34 mg. A grande Starbucks Caffé Americano has 225 mg of caffeine.

We’re have no intention of making the switch from traditional coffee to the clear form, but the new drink is still cool as hell. We’d totally be down for a taste test (nudge nudge, CLR CFF).
