Chocolate And Rock Candy Cross In The Craziest Way

@abbyleewilcox

What happens when you cross chocolate and rock candy? If you’re Alex Yeatts, a baking and pastry student at the Culinary Institute of America, then the result is over-the-top chocolate geodes filled with rock candy.

The photo above comes from Abby Lee Wilcox, who was a collaborator on the baking project. Now, take a closer look, the details are simply mesmerizing.

That’s pure sweetness right there. The creations that look like real-life amethysts took Yeatts six months to make. According to Tip Hero, it takes one to two weeks for a batch of rock candy to form. In that context, it’s easy to understand why the process to create the chocolate geodes took so long.

When Yeatts finally got around to cracking his creation open, he called the experience “the most exciting thing.”

All of that chocolate oozing out and the reveal of the sparkly treat made our mouths water.

While these creations are certainly unique, geode desserts aren’t anything new. Geode cakes made waves when they took the world, and Instagram, by storm. And they’re oh so pretty.
