The Easiest Chai Tea Recipe Ever

Ingredients

  • 6 whole cardamom seeds
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 4 whole black peppercorns
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 bags black tea (Darjeeling is a good option)
  • 6 teaspoons sugar, or more to taste

Instructions

In a large sauce pot, heat the milk and water on medium-high heat. While the liquid is heating up, combine the cardamom seeds, cloves and peppercorns in a resealable plastic bag like a Ziploc bag. Crush the spices (I used a rolling pin, but you can use a heavy skillet or any other heavy/hard kitchen item) until fine, then add them, the cinnamon and ginger slices to the liquid.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then remove it from the heat. Add the tea bags and sugar, cover the pot and let steep for at least 10 minutes.

Take the tea bags and cinnamon out of the pot once the tea has steeped and strain into individual mugs. Enjoy!
