Casa Apicii Is Where An LA Chef Brings Seasonal Italian To The Village

[tw-divider]The Scoop[/tw-divider]

  • Los Angeles-based chef Casey Lane brings seasonal Italian cuisine to Greenwich Village inside a 19th-century townhouse with Casa Apicii. The restaurant’s name refers to the first-century Roman gastronomist and writer, Marcus Gavius Apicius
  • In a space that previously housed John Delucie’s The Lion, chef Lane (owner of the Tasting Kitchen in LA)  has partnered with executive chef Adam Nadal (A Voce) and Patrick Cormier (Locanda Verde), who will manage the historic space
  • The menu is simplistic, each dish only highlighting a few core ingredients. Starters include housemade and imported mozzarella cheeses. All of the pasta is made fresh in-house — you’ll want to try the classic bucatini all’amatriciana (‘nduja, Sicilian oregano, and pecorino), tagliatelle (chanterelles, pancetta, and sage), sunchokes (mustard crema and speck), and roasted duck (summer squash, tomato, and eggplant)
