4 Cannabis-Infused Beers That’ll Leave You Buzzed — But Not In The Way You Think
No, you won’t get high from cannabis-infused beer, but those who appreciate marijuana for its earthy taste will probably be on board with these brews.
Marijuana terpenes, the aromatic compounds of fragrant oils from the cannabis plant, are what give it such a distinct smell. These same compounds are what make cannabis-infused beer such a unique experience. Now, these brews are entirely legal since they’re made with industrial-grade hemp that’s (unfortunately) THC-free. But getting to experience the plant for its flavor profile rather than a simple means of getting high is pretty damn cool. With breweries around the country exploring this new territory and showing marijuana lovers and haters alike how many hats cannabis can wear, who knows what’s next. Here are five cannabis-infused beers that are true pioneers in the industry.

But getting to experience the plant for its flavor profile rather than a simple means of getting high is pretty damn cool. In the meantime, though, here are four cannabis-infused beers that are true pioneers in the industry.
Two Flowers IPA — Coalition Brewing
Two Flours IPA is the first commercially produced cannabidiol (CBD) hemp-infused beer in Oregon. The idea of Two Flours, while it doesn’t contain THC, is to profile the Pacific Northwest and the cannabis plant all in one. Brewed by Coalition Brewing Co., Two Flours is an American IPA with an ABV of 6 percent. The beer is light, crisp, bitter and refreshing with some notes of citrus. The hemp juice adds a grassy bitter flavor that works well with the natural bitterness of the hops.
Hemp Ale — Humboldt Brewing Co.
Also known as Humboldt Brown, this innovative ale is brewed with hemp by Humboldt Brewing Co. in California. The style is an American Brown Ale with an ABV of 5.7 percent. The hemp ale is brewed with toasted hemp seeds, which gives the beer an herbal profile. You might not get high, but you’ll definitely get a decently strong buzz.
Supercritical — Lagunitas Brewery
Cannabis terpenes are used in the brewing process for this Supercritical IPA by the popular Lagunitas Brewing Company. Only available in California right now, Supercritical had help from friends at AbsoluteXtracts. They pulled terpenes from some of Northern California’s best cannabis (minus the THC) and brewed it with Yakima’s hops. Supercritical has an ABV of 6.6 percent and you can find it sold on tap.
Stoner Duck — Venice Duck Brewery
Brewed by Venice Duck Brewery in Venice Beach, California, Stoner Duck is an American Brown Ale with an ABV of 5.6 percent. Stoner Duck has a nutty, toasty and grassy taste. You’ll find some red hues and a creamy tan head (the frothy foam on top of the beer). Aside from the kickass label, this brown hemp ale has a mild fruit flavor and the hop seeds blend really well with malts.
