You Actually Can Visit These Caribbean Islands This Winter

After being battered by devastating hurricanes for several months, the Caribbean is ready to welcome back visitors craving some warm sunny beach time this winter.

While some islands still have a long road to recovery ahead, others are thrilled at the potential to attract tourists post-storm season.

It’s a win-win. Travelers get to enjoy the tropical environment and the local Caribbean economies get a boost from all of our tourist dollars spent on hotels, restaurants, water sports and souvenirs. You’re doing good just by spending money in the region.

That’s not to minimize the enormous suffering in areas such as Dominica, Barbuda and Puerto Rico. But the Caribbean is vast; there are many islands that were lucky enough to be spared from catastrophic storms.

Many people don’t realize that the distance between the Bahamas and Grenada is equal to traveling to Chicago from New York and back again. The Caribbean is one million square miles of tropical islands. And the region’s communal message to travelers? Come to the Caribbean.

Here are the destinations that you can go to this fall and winter:

Antigua

Aruba

Bahamas

Barbados

Bermuda

Bonaire

Cayman Islands

Cuba

Curaçao

Dominican Republic

Guadeloupe

Grenada

Haiti

Jamaica

Martinique

Montserrat

Saba

St. Eustatius

St. Lucia

St. Kitts & Nevis

St. Vincent & The Grenadines

Trinidad and Tobago

Turks and Caicos

There are some islands that are still fighting daily to repair basic necessities. Eighty percent of Puerto Rico was still without power as of October 16 – donations are still the best way to help here.
