What Breakfast Looks Like Around The World

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but what it looks like in countries around the world varies quite widely. Below, start each day in a different country with these unbelievable breakfast spreads.

England

What’s in it: Back bacon, sunnyside-up eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, sausage, black pudding, baked beans, hash browns, and toast.

France

What’s in it: Croissant, jams, and café au lait (coffee with milk).

What’s in it: Grilled fish, rolled egg omelet, pickled vegetables, sides, and coffee.

China

What’s in it: Congee, a savory rice porridge that often includes the umami-heavy century egg and silky salted pork, and typically served with Chinese crullers.

What’s in it: Chole bhatura, a popular street food that consists of chole masala (a spicy chickpea mash) and bhatura, a fluffy deep-fried bread.

What’s in it: a freshly baked pastry, such as a cornetto (sweeter and more cake-like than a croissant, served with piping hot espresso.

Morocco

What’s in it: Shakshuka, a dish of poached eggs, tomatoes, chili peppers, and spices. Shakshuka has roots in Morocco, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Algeria, though it is also popular in Israel and the Middle East.

Brazil

What’s in it: Strong coffee, a spread of ham and other cured meats, cheese, and fresh bread.
