You Can Now Buy Blue Wine And We Are Intrigued

We don’t know about you, but we love our wine. But even the most informed wine connoisseurs couldn’t have seen this coming: blue wine is a thing, and we can’t say we’re mad about it.

Gik, a Spanish wine company, considers itself a “creator,” not a vintner. Their team created blue wine to disrupt the wine industry as they currently see it as close-minded and too traditionalist. They only have one goal in their wine endeavor: to give people the opportunity to enjoy their wine without any pretentiousness — and with a touch of adventure.

So how exactly does this blue wine look and taste the way it does? The wine is a mixture of both red and white wine grapes (we love a good fusion) and is organically pigmented with indigo and anthocyanin, which comes from the skin of the wine grapes.

Gik is considered a fairly sweet wine that should be served chilled. There are no added sugars and an effort was made to create a wine that’s a more stable, healthy choice. (We’re extremely impressed by this.)

Bonus: All their processes are regulated and have been approved by the European Food Safety Authority. We like the sound of safe, organic wine.

Here’s why you’re gonna be giddy to buy this wine, though: it’s only $16 per bottle. Gik is bringing the wine to the states, and you can pre-order yours on their site. We’re sort of thrilled to try the wine, to be honest. Gik checks out.
