Drink Out Of A Bloody Shark Head At This New York City Tiki Bar

Bloody Shark Eye Cocktail New York City

@eventlessapp

You might’ve had tiki bar cocktails before, but none of them will compare to this treat.

Smack in the middle of New York City’s Alphabet City neighborhood is the upscale tiki bar Mother of Pearl, and the cocktail presentation here is next-level. When you step into Mother of Pearl, you immediately get an island escape from the chaos of the city with flowy white curtains, an open-air feel, colorful island decor and plants left and right.

One of the bar’s most sought-after cocktails is the “Shark Eye,” which is actually served inside of a ceramic shark head with fake blood pouring down the sides. The cocktail is made with passion fruit, lemon, maraschino, dry curçao, bourbon, rye and tiki bitters. The shark head is filled with the cocktail, packed with crushed ice and covered with fake blood, which is actually just a mixture of bitters and sugar.

The Shark Eye isn’t the only theatrical cocktail at Mother of Pearl. There’s the “Sugar Cane Magik” that’s made of coconut cream, pineapple, lime, almond and rum. And we can’t fail to mention the “Taste the Rainbow” that contains kiwi, watermelon, pineapple, banana cognac, lemon, lime, pisco and overproof rum, and is then topped with rainbow straws and Skittles that are set on fire as it’s being served.

All of the killer tiki cocktails at this island getaway are extremely photo-worthy. Plus, you can actually taste the booze in them. So when you need to escape the bitter, urban cold, just mosey inside and drink out of a bloody shark head.
