Wellness Tip Of The Day: Journaling At The End Of A Stressful Day Can Help You Wind Down Before Bed And Fall Asleep Faster.

How To Do It: Grab a pretty journal and your favorite color pen, turn to a blank page and start listing off all of the good things that happened to you today. The “good things” can be something as small as “my grumpy neighbor smiled at me in the driveway this morning” or something as big as “my major presentation went flawlessly.” Replay your day and pinpoint even the smallest of successes that you’d usually brush off — try to list at least three good things that happened to you that day, preferably more. Once you’ve listed everything out, look down at the page. Notice how many things there are to be pleased with and be thankful as another day of your life comes to a close. Do this every evening to relax after a long day and cultivate a more positive mindset.

Why It Works: After a very stressful day of constantly ticking off a never-ending list of responsibilities — the kind of day that leaves you with a headache and zero energy to speak of — it can be quite difficult to unwind and get a restful night of sleep. Not being able to successfully relax before bed can lead to a long night of tossing and turning, worrying about the day to come. Journaling in the evening can transition your brain to a more peaceful place. What’s more, looking at a list of all the successes that you’ve had in a day, whether big or small, will make you realize that more often than not you had a better day than you previously thought. This habit is instrumental in getting rid of negative thoughts and pessimistic thinking. [Swirled]

Our Favorite Buys Of The Day

The GreenLine Market: Make tonight pasta night with a quick and easy veggie pasta. Sauté onions and garlic in Bragg’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil until translucent. Add a mix of chopped zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms or whatever quick-cooking veggie you like and a can of Organico Bello Whole Peeled Tomatoes (just crush them with your hands) and continue cooking until hot and bubbly. Season with Evolution Himalayan Pink Sea Salt and red pepper for an extra kick of heat. While the sauce is cooking, prepare a box of Chickapea chickpea pasta shells. Once the shells are cooked, add them to the sauce and toss to combine. Top with a sprinkle of Parmigiano-Reggiano, or Frontier Natural Products Coop Nutritional Yeast Flakes if you want to keep it vegan. The Green Line Market is offering $10 OFF your first order! A tip from our Food Editor: “I love the way the Chickapea shells hold sauce, but you can swap them for Chickapea pasta spirals, too. Make extra and pack a lunch for tomorrow in the Fit And Fresh Lunch Set With Removable Ice Pack.”
