Weekend Edition

1. Workout of the Week: Mini Band Plank Reaches

You can squeeze in a quick, effective workout on your lunch break by using a mini band and starting with plank reaches. Place the mini band around your wrists and move into a high plank position. Walk your right hand out to the right side, and then slowly bring it back to the center, maintaining tension in the mini band the entire time. Then walk your left hand out to the left side, and bring it back to the center. Alternate sides until you complete 10 reps on each side. [Swirled]

2. Life Hack Of The Day: Knife Edition

Sharpen your knives by cutting through aluminum foil.

3. What To Watch: “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch”

If you have yet to experience interactive television on Netflix, definitely start with this film. “Black Mirror” fans will love the cryptic pretense and gamers will enjoy determining the protagonist’s next move at every plot turn. (Spoiler alert: Things get dark… and fast.) It’s like those choose-your-own-ending “Goosebumps” books of your childhood, but better. [Netflix]

4. What to Read: “We’re Going to Need More Wine: Stories That Are Funny, Complicated, and True” by Gabrielle Union

From sexual assault and infertility to money in relationships and (of course) some fun gossip, Gabrielle Union’s book is a perfect read for a cozy night in with a glass of wine (or three). If we weren’t big enough fans of the actress, activist and author already, this book solidified our girl crush even more. [Amazon]

5. App Of The Week: Freedom

Reduce screen time with apps like Freedom. The app lets you track the amount of time you spend on your devices, set daily limits, block emails and texts, and so much more. You’ll have more time for getting your to-do list done without all of those distractions. [Swirled]

6. R&R: DIY Coffee Scrub

Forget that store-brand scrub you were planning to try and make your own by using ingredients from your kitchen. With half a cup of ground Fair Trade coffee beans, half a cup of high-quality sea salt and half a cup of coconut oil, you’ll have the best (and best-smelling) skin scrub ever. [Swirled]

7. What to Eat: Garlic Butter Shrimp

Win date night by whipping up some easy garlic butter shrimp. Tender shrimp, luscious butter and a parade of spices like garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper come together to create the most decadent (and surprisingly simple to make) dinner ever. [Swirled]

8. What To Buy: Women’s Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Boost Mask

Don’t settle for dry, dull skin in the winter. Instead, get glowing with a hydrating, anti-aging mask. Your skin will be luminous in no time, and you won’t believe you ever survived without this product. [Amazon]

9. Dream Destination: Long Beach, Koh Phi Phi

Looking for a swimming spot on the Koh Phi Phi islands? We know where you should go: Long Beach. It sounds boring and basic, but in reality, it’s anything but that. Long Beach is one of the most sparkling, clear and magical beaches we’ve seen. And it’s quite the trek from the main pier to reach the beach — you’ll pass by tempting swimming holes, rope climbs and beach bars. [Swirled]

10. Wild Card: Here Are 7 Foods In Your Pantry That Double As Beauty Products

When you’re running low on skincare products, look in your pantry. Egg whites, in particular, have two important skincare ingredients: protein and collagen. The proteins in an egg white mask help your skin improve and maintain its elasticity, which helps when it comes to fine lines on your face that you’d like to minimize. [Swirled]
